Following The Ochre Issue for 2016, we will publish The Translucent Issue in 2017. Submissions open January 1, 2016, at midnight EST—visit Submittable for more information.
As with The Mauve Issue and The Ochre Issue, this issue is unthemed, although we are interested in work that addresses translucency and its siblings: opacity and transparency.
We are particularly interested in work that originates from authors of non-Western/European origin, and work that retells, or is inspired by, fairy tales from non-Western/European cultures. In addition, we hope to receive more work from traditionally underrepresented voices in publishing, whether that be by race, gender, class, sexuality, disability status, and more. Fairy tales have always been inclusive, and we want our journal to be representative of that tradition.
- Please submit only once per category during this reading period, even if the first has been responded to. For example, two or more submissions to the prose category will cause all but the first to be withdrawn from consideration, but one fiction and one poetry submission is fine.
- Simultaneous submissions are fine, but be sure to withdraw your work via Submittable if it is accepted elsewhere for publication.
- Direct all inquiries and comments to ftreditorial@gmail.com
- All pieces should be original and previously unpublished—translations are exempt, of course.
