Edward Scissorhands
A cuticle-challenged Johnny Depp plays the incomplete project of an inventor whose death leaves Edward with blades for digits and eyes for Winona Ryder. Maybe you’ve heard of his other “inventions”: Predator and Terminator.
Don’t Open the Box
The archetype for curiosity, Pandora’s come a long way since her Greek mythology beginnings. Nietzsche’s written about her, Internet radio’s trademarked her, entire QVC message boards are devoted to a jewelry line bearing her namesake. A decent haul for someone who freed a horde of evils so they could wreak havoc on the earth. No word as to whether her main creator, Zeus, has collected any royalties.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
He’s 47 in comic-book years, a Tinseltown newborn as of this release. Hank Pym’s robotic offspring in the pages, Tony Stark’s on the screen, Ultron was created as an experiment which promptly retaliated. And that’s sugarcoating it. Voiced by James Spader, this isn’t the first time the actor’s been a thorn in Robert Downey, Jr.’s side, as moviegoers of the 80s will recall their not-so-humane relationship in Less Than Zero.
Legwarmers to a billion-dollar plus franchise, now there’s a terrifying leap.
